Zine and Webpage
This project challenges the hierarchy between friendships and romance, and reconsider the role of friendship as an equally valuable form of love. the zine shares a personal perspective and cultural critique, and gives a space for readers to interact by writing a love letter or message to their friends. The website serves as digital “mailbox” collecting quotes, photos, love, and messages that tell stories about non-romantic love.

The project is shaped by intensive research of the themes of compulsory sexuality and the history of queer manifestos and zines. Referencing zine culture, the visual language utilizes queer-made typography, and methods like Letraset, RISO, and collage. Imagery include found and distorted ephemera such as valentine’s cards, and love ballad covers.
